Please R.S.V.P to attend the opening reception on the 10th, to Sales@londonmiles.com

This October, cartoon artist and toy designer Joe Ledbetter (Los Angeles, USA) will take his act on the road and present 5 art shows in 5 different cities across Europe, first stop London Miles Gallery. In the spirit of a touring rock band, Ledbetter will travel from city to city (London, Amsterdam, Paris, Rome, and Istanbul) presenting separate shows that will feature new paintings, toy releases, and book signings. While each exhibition will showcase a different theme, the work is meant to show international commonalities through current events and humour.

London Miles Gallery is proud to host the launch event of the tour and Joe Ledbetter’s first European solo exhibition. Inspired by Rock and Roll and 80’s travelling rock bands , “Shock & Awe” opens on October 10th and will be on display until November 10th.

In addition to more than 15 original paintings, there will be the European exclusive “Terror and Magnus” vinyl toy releases, print releases, a book signing, and a meet and greet with Joe.

About Joe Ledbetter:

Influenced by classic animation, graphic design, and daily life, Joe Ledbetter's art is... well... a lot of things. Light-hearted in its approach, he often combines cute and cuddly creatures with unfortunate — albeit humorous — situations. With a lean on the subversive and absurd, these scenarios are all too familiar, questioning our tendency of taking life (and ourselves) too seriously.

While working as a graphic apparel artist for three years, Ledbetter got involved in the LA underground art scene, beginning with group shows like Cannibal Flower. By the summer of 2004, he had honed his trademark visual style of emblematic line-work, vibrant colours, and endearing characters to the point of quitting his day job. His incredible cast of creatures have since been emblazoned on over 100 designer vinyl toys, as well as apparel and lifestyle brands, the world over.

To attend the private opening on October 10th, 2009 please R.S.V.P to Sales@Londonmiles.com

Nothing Gold Can Stay, the first European solo show with Scott Belcastro opened Last night, Thursday the 17th of September at London Miles Gallery. Scott Belcastro was not able to make it to the opening due to being all the way over in California, but the collection of beautiful paintings he created for this show is some of his best work to date. The show included some large works, size 30 x 40 inches and few smaller ones, 12 x 12. The amazing shading of his endless skies to the detailed splattered grassy hills created such a warm and truly stunning collection of work. It was wonderful to watch people as they walked up closely to see the pieces in detail and how a silence just over took them. Scott's work tends to just make you feel at peace, and a inner silence that is hard to find in our day to day hectic lives.

The exhibition will be on display until October 5th, and all the artworks are on sale. If you have any questions about purchasing the artworks, please email Sales@londonmiles.com

We look forward to you visiting the gallery and enjoying Scott's Beautiful collection of artworks as much as we do. This is really one of our most special exhibitions to date.

Nothing Gold Can Stay, a Scott Belcastro solo show

"Her hardest hue to hold" 12 x 23 inches, acrylic on panel.

This September the 17th, 2009 opens the first European solo show with Los Angeles based painter Scott Belcastro.

The title 'Nothing Gold Can Stay' is about the erosion of youth and innocence in all aspects of everyday life. Through a collection of original paintings, Scott Belcastro explores the native nature of our state of mind; he endeavors to inspire and nurture our interest in nature and awaken the beauty found in the transformation of our environments. Becoming part of this natural change is akin to immersing ourselves into a golden moment in time.
The paintings capture a moment of innocence and its vulnerability to a change that is about to happen. Belcastro uses explosive colours to display his frustration and confusion in dealing with his unsettled spirit. What appear to be harmless paintings of landscape in the first glance depict the feeling of uncertainty about the transformation that occurs around us. Belcastro says "Change is inevitable; watching it take place is gold."

Scott Belcastro's paintings are a meticulous study of endless landscapes and skies; a struggle between illustration and abstract expressionism, telling stories of inner silence, loneliness and the search for something larger within ourselves. The paintings are a reflection of the artist's childhood memories, growing up in the immense countryside of upstate New York.
