Up next at London Miles: Pens and Needles

Back from a well deserved break, London Miles is ready for a another year packed with back to back exhibitions. First up is a very exciting exhibition celebrating Tattoo artwork and culture- Pens and Needles. Featuring a collection of international tattoo artist and fine artist that are inspired by tattoo artwork. The exhibition opens on February 25th 2011 at Westbourne Studios.

Confirmed artists are:
Claudia Sabe, Shawn Barber, Nick Baxter, Estevan Oriol, Olli Bery, Jeff Gouge, Nick Colella, Kurt Wiscombe, Tom Bagshaw, Daniel Albrigo, Mike Davis, Lea Nahon, Human Fly Jee, Bart Bingham, Rico, Hoshion, Holy Fox, Xam, Matt Difa, Regino Gonzales, Issac Fainkujen, Shad and a few more to be confirmed.

On show will be photographs, original stencils from tattoos, paintings and a unique installation designed by the London Miles Team. This is an exhibition not to be missed!!

Well...its been one incredible year. Packed with back to back exhibitions . We just want to say a big Thank you to everyone that has supported London Miles Gallery and has made it down to our opening receptions. If you havent had a chance to come see the gallery or meet the team, then now is your chance...This Friday, December 10th we have two very special exhibitions on display. For the first time in the U.K we are exhibiting the artworks of Victor Castillo and Luke Kopycinski. The two talented fellas have really pulled a great show together of original art work and some afforadable prints from Victor castillo (which make a perfect Christmas gift). Also on exhibit we have the opening of (wtf is) LOWBROW- a group show of various artists London Miles Gallery has exhibited over the years. Exciting New artwork from Nom Kinnear King and Xue Wang, along with a whole selection of limited edition prints from Fine Grime (a great print company from Bath that we have been working with)....

Luke Kopycinski and Victor Castillo's First London showcase

This December we have a very exciting two man show coming to London.
Luke Kopycinski from Austrailia and Victor Castillo from Chilie will be showcasing a collection of original paintings and drawings at London Miles in their first showcase in London.

Victor Castillo

Born in 1973 in Santiago de Chile where he was a member of the art research collective Caja Negra. His Work has been shown in various countries such as Spain, Chile, Argentina, Brazil, the United States, Canada, Belgium and Taiwan. The work of Victor Castillo strikes like a swift blow to the stomach and stirs the innards of a popular iconography fed by comics, illustration and television. His drawing produce slogans on daily consumption and monstrous beings enslaved to flesh and money. This production, consumption and digestion of statements reveal the violence of everyday life and denounce the universality of rationality incarnated by diabolical figures of animals or humans. At the moment he lives and works in Barcelona.

Luke Kopycinski

Luke Kopycinski is an Australian born artist currently working and living in Melbourne, Australia. His work is intriguing, dark and has an underlying current of something very human. Best described as Dark Noir, his subject matter is of the beautiful and the melancholy, aspects of the people around him, both what they project on the outside and what they keep inside. His oils are a mix of realism and impressionism, a mixture of strong soft shining lights and heavy sharp shadows that centre the focus of the pieces. His graphite works have been described as painting themselves, illusionary in depth and form with imagery like deceptively frozen moments.

DUSTER UA comes to London for a one day seminar at London Miles Gallery

London Miles Gallery is hosting an afternoon with New York subway artist Duster, on December 4th, 2010. Curated by Paul 'Don' Smith, Duster will be traveling outside of the USA for the first time in his life, to give a talk about his legendary career as a New York subway graffiti artist during the 70's and 80's. The afternoon will include an exhibition of original and rare photographs from Henry Chalfant and Martha Cooper, authors of the graffiti and subway artists bible 'SUBWAY ART', an exhibition of limited edition prints and original artwork by Duster, and a one hour Q and A with the artist as he talks through his experiences as a Bronx, New York train writer.

Visitors to the event will enjoy a private screening of STYLE WARS; the original Hip Hop documentary directed by Tony Silver and co- produced with Henry Chalfant. The film was awarded the Grand Prize for Documentaries at the 1983 Sundance Film Festival. STYLE WARS is regarded as the indispensable documentation of New York street culture and subway art of the early '80s, the filmic record of a golden age of youthful creativity that exploded into the world from a city in crisis.
